The song is essentially a song for women empowerment. Singer atif aslam is also one of those singers who has dedicated most of his songs to talking about social issues. Since the beginning of his career, he has been singing about people who are fighting for their rights. For instance, his first hit Pehla Pehla Pyaar was inspired by the famous novel Behanji Ka Safar by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. It was followed with another song Doosra Aadmi Chandni which talks about the trials and tribulations being faced by people living in rural areas. He also sang a song for the movie P.K. which was an ode to the women of this country. Since Happy Bhag Jayegi marks his reunion with director Mudassar Aziz, the singer says that he was always ready for such an opportunity and was waiting for it to present itself. He says, "Every time we work together, we try to figure out things that we haven't before and it is always exciting. There is a certain aura around Mudassar and I like working with him." The composition has been written by Kausar Munir and Shabbir Ahmed while Jahaan Khurrana has done the lyrics of this song. The video of the song features Sonakshi Sinha as the bride's mother, Suresh Menon as the bridegroom and Rajesh Sharma as Atif's father. To give the viewers a glimpse of how it must feel to be restless, director Mudassar kept Atif confined in a room for over four hours before shooting started. He says, "Atif is an extremely talented person and we spent a lot of time together while shooting Happy Bhag Jayegi. We were very open with each other and I believe that is why we clicked so well onscreen. He has the most amazing voice and it was a pleasure to work with him." The song was released on 10 September 2016 on the occasion of Bade Log Diwali, which is an annual event in which people light candles at home. The song was also released on YouTube by Sony Music India. The song is written by Kausar Munir, Shabbir Ahmed and Jahaan Khurrana. This is the first time that Bade Log Diwali and its songs will be made available to YouTube viewers in 7 different languages .
